It's National Apprenticeship Week! So it’s only right that we bring you a selection of the top apprenticeships to look out for this year. If you are uncertain about your next steps and in need of some inspiration, read below for a selection of apprenticeship opportunities that you may not have heard of.
1. BBC Production Apprenticeship Fast Track - 18 months
This Level 3 Production apprenticeship is ideal for someone wishing to take their first step into the media industry with a passion for making and producing content. No 2 days will be the same in this media based apprenticeship and your tasks may range from tea runs and booking transport for the crew to learning how to film and edit audio/visual content. Apprentices will be offered a starting salary of £14,400 per year, and those based in London will receive £19,082 per year. However, the main take away from this will be the completion of a Level 3 Production apprenticeship supported by an experienced and highly established training provider. 2. TFL Commercial Real Estate - 5.5 years
This Level 6 Commercial Real Estate is a fantastic route into the property industry. As long as you are 18 by September 2022, have 3 A Levels A - C and 5 GCSEs A - C, you will be able to apply and thrive in this property based role. Once in the role, you will be supported as you complete your RICS APC qualifications and once you have completed the apprenticeship successfully, you could progress onto Property Surveyor, with further development in Property Development and Commercial Revenue. Not only will you be gaining valuable hands-on experience while working towards an impressive degree accredited by a worldwide institution (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors), you will also have a great salary of £22,938 while working in the capital! 3. Rolls Royce Industrial Sewing Apprentice - 2 years
A Rolls Royce Level 2 Sewing Apprenticeship is something you might not have heard a lot about … if at all! This unique opportunity is perfect for those with a keen eye for detail and a passion for sewing. Over the course of two years you will learn everything there is to know about the Rolls Royce sewing department while your final year will get you prepared for your desired area of expertise. There is a competitive starting salary of £16,000 per year which can increase each year up to £29,000 depending on your performance. Rolls Royce also offers a generous holiday allowance and a BMW car scheme for those 18 and over - that isn’t something you hear everyday! To top it all off, 100% of apprentices that have successfully completed the programme have been offered full time employment. If sewing is not your thing, there are a wide range of other apprenticeship options available including Level 6 IT management, Level 3 Maintenance technician or a Level 3 AAT Finance, Accounting and Controlling apprenticeship. 4. BP Software Development Apprenticeship - 2 years
Coding is a buzzword that is frequently thrown around these days. If you are familiar with coding, or like to read and learn code in your spare time this could be the perfect role for you to grow and develop your existing skills. BP are looking for motivated individuals who are willing to learn and work towards a Level 4 Software Development qualification as they try to modernize and transform their business through digital development. From rapid application development on low-code platforms to innovative, custom build software you will be helping BP become a digital leader in their sector. Not only will you be learning an incredible amount while gaining hands-on experience, you will also be earning a competitive starting salary of £20,000 a year plus a £3,000 sign on bonus. 4. Pret Hospitality Apprenticeship - 2 years
If hospitality is an industry you are keen to dive into, this could be the perfect option for you! Not only will you have on-the-job training, but you will also learn more about the business’s values and its customers through various Pret Experience Events. Your annual salary will be between £15,200 - £15,700 depending on your location, which is paid weekly. Plus you can expect 28 days of holiday, a free lunch when you are working (and 50% off when you aren’t working) AND an Apprentice Extra Card with student discount rates. To quite literally cap it all off, you will also be given a graduation ceremony to celebrate how much you have accomplished! Once you have achieved your Level 2 Hospitality Apprenticeship, you can decide if you want to progress further onto their Leader Programme, which can then lead on to their Manager Programme.

5. Greggs Level 3 Retail Apprenticeship - 12-18 months
A Retail Apprenticeship will help you move into a retail management position - meaning you will be able to go straight from apprentice to sup;ervisor in the matter of 18 months! This is a fast paced role, with apprentices having to work and study equally as hard. You will also be expected to take on key responsibility over the course of your apprenticeship, meaning there is no time to sit idly by. You will be developing skills in a range of topics such as leadership, finance and the customer experience. With an impressive apprenticeship salary ranging between £6.36 - £8.22 per hour, apprentices will also enjoy all the work perks of working at Greggs (on-demand sausage rolls, yes please!) plus staff discount and profit shares!
